What is barcode scan?
Many types of licenses and ID documents contain a barcode on the back of the ID. This barcode contains the same data that's displayed on the front of the ID.
As part of the ID verification process, Vouched has the ability to scan the barcode on the back of the ID and compare the data to the front of the ID to make sure they match. This is a very effective feature at ensuring that a candidate's data matches and is consistent on both sides of the ID document.
Barcode scan modes
There are two main ways to use the Barcode Scan feature:
Barcode scan and match
This mode is the default, is the stricter of the two, and is recommended for workflows that require high security settings. With this mode enabled, Vouched checks to make sure that the barcode data matches the front of the ID. If the barcode data does not match, the job is rejected.
Barcode read
This mode is an alternative for organizations that prefer to optimize their workflow for conversion. With this mode enabled, the user is still asked to scan the barcode, but Vouched only reads the barcode data as supplemental information. With this mode, Vouched does not match the barcode data to the front of the ID, and the job will not be rejected if the barcode data doesn't match.
Please reach out to Vouched Support to update your barcode scan mode on your account.
Enabling barcode scan
Barcode scan can be enabled in the JS plugin by setting the following:
includeBarcode: true, To enable barcode with other integration methods, please reach out to Vouched Support.
Used with other services
When the Barcode scan is enabled, data scanned from the Barcode is given priority when used with other services. That means if data is scanned from an ID and used for Crosscheck or DLV, the data submitted to these services will come from the barcode and not from the front of the ID.
